How to decorate a unique and inspiring home for Christmas

When decorating for Christmas, it’s important to choose a color scheme (even if the color scheme is rainbow). This is not only because a structure and a plan will guide you through the process, but it will make your festive interior look more cohesive. If you are tired of classic red and green, a combination of blue and white is an excellent alternative. Going forward, we have put out fantastic blue and white Christmas decorations. Whether you keep it subtle with a simple change of socks or go all out with the color palette, these design-approved ideas are sure to transform your home into a winter wonderland.
In a Connecticut home, designer Jenny Wolf matched the tree’s holiday decorations to the home’s stark blue-and-white color palette. The chinoiserie ball ornaments easily integrate both colors and make the overall tree look elevated.

Fill a couple of blue and white vases with flowers – such as hydrangeas, lilies or snapdragons – and place them all throughout your house. Not only will they tie the whole theme together, but the decor will add vibrancy to your home.

Create a cohesive look in your living room by dressing your tree and the garland on your mantel with the same ornaments in blue and white. Here, designer Nikki Klugh used flocked garland on her mantle for a snowy touch that enhances the color scheme.

When designing your tablescape, consider adding taper candles in shades of blue and white to your table centerpiece. Expand the theme with patterned tableware and napkins set against a white tablecloth and paired with blue-tinted glasses.

Take it even further by replacing your typical dining room chairs with blue ones, like the set in this New Jersey home by designer Michael Maher. For an easy hack, use slipcovers on your existing chairs. Or simply put blue-white pillows or cushions on them.

Take a cue from Tiffany & Co. by wrapping your presents in blue paper with white ribbon. Keep them all the same, or include a mix of wrapping paper in different blue-and-white patterns. For a more subtle look, mix them with neutral wraps, like burlap and brown paper.
